What Do You Want To Understand?

Magnesium

Which form actually makes sense?

Not all magnesium is equal — citrate and glycinate are generally better absorbed than oxide, though which form makes sense depends on why you're taking it.

Iron

Heme vs. non-heme.

Heme iron (from animal sources) is absorbed far more efficiently than non-heme iron (from plants) — roughly 15–35% versus 2–20%, per NIH data.

Vitamin D

What affects absorption?

Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so it's absorbed best alongside a meal with some fat. Skin synthesis from sunlight also varies widely by season, latitude, and skin tone.

Protein

How much do you actually need?

The baseline RDA is 0.8g per kg of body weight, but sports nutrition bodies generally recommend 1.2–2.0g/kg for people who train regularly.

Electrolytes

What's actually in them?

Mainly sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium — minerals that carry electrical charge and regulate fluid balance, nerve signals, and muscle contraction.

Guide coming soon

Adaptogens

What are they supposed to do?

Plant compounds traditionally used to help the body handle stress. Human evidence is still limited overall — strongest for ashwagandha — so treat this as an emerging area, not settled science.

Inside the House of ELDR

One house. Several ways to explore it.

Shop what nourishes you, read what makes you think, and follow what we’re building next.

Our philosophy

Some knowledge is discovered. Some is remembered.

People fermented food, steeped bitter herbs and sat in heat long before anyone could measure why. Some of those habits have held up under modern study. Some haven’t been studied well. Some may never be.

ELDR keeps all of it in view and tells you which is which. No one holds all the answers. Wisdom begins with the willingness to question.

  • Established evidence
  • Emerging research
  • Traditional use
  • Philosophical inquiry

Magnesium: Which Form Actually Makes Sense?
